About Me
Having started swimming at the age of 4, I have always loved the water. I progressed through to club
and started competing, reaching Welsh national level for many different events including 50m
butterfly and 800m freestyle! I am still an active swimmer and hope to compete as part of the
University of Bath’s swimming club this year (covid allowing).
My experience
I have a big passion for swimming and part of that includes passing on my knowledge to the younger
swimmers. I completed my level 1 teaching assistant qualification at 16, then working for two years
before completing my level 2 teaching qualification and have now been working as a swimming
teacher for nearly 4 years. I have taught a range of ages from 6 months to 11 years old. In addition
to my teaching qualifications, I also hold my level 1 coaching qualification, allowing me to coach all
ages including 16 to 18 years old at national level.
My approach to teaching
I have a fun approach to teaching all while keeping structure to ensure the safety of everyone! I find
children learn best through structured play and by using their imagination which I do my best to
encourage. I love working with children and find it very rewarding to see them progress and develop
along their swimming journey.
